Wireless Communication

Wireless technology is a domain in which communication is made possible between two or more points without any physical contact or electrical conductor between these points. Wires are not used in this type of communication.

This communication is used where wires are not possible to install or are impossible to reach. Wireless communication has made possible the transformation of information to distant areas or the areas where setting up communication using wires is difficult.

In wireless communication radio waves or acoustic energy is used for carrying the information. This mode of communication have various advantages over wired communication as it is cheaper, less cumbersome, easy to install and efficient than the formal.

Wireless communications have various fixed, mobile and portable applications that include 2-way radios, cellular telephones, personal digital assistants and wireless networking.

Wireless is one of the vast areas in which research can be carried out in number of fields like increasing the range of communication, increasing lifetime of nodes, improving energy efficiency, decreasing network failure etc. the parameters that are required to be kept in mind are the operating range, battery life, sensitivity, data rate, network topology and node intelligence.

Wireless Communication Techniques for Thesis Implementation

  • Equalization is the reversal of disturbance that is present in the signal. The device that reverses the noise in the signal that is transmitting through a medium is known as equalizer. As because of the multipath channel fading effect occurs and due to this transmitted signal become weak. After transmitting the signal form the transmitter, the received signal is a filtered and noise corrupted transmitted sequence at the receiver end, the frequency selectivity and the ISI is result of multipath channel. Equalization can reduce the ISI and noise effects for better demodulation. As the ISI can degrade the information that is send by the transmitter.
  • This is a wireless network that comprises of wearable computing devices. These networks are generally made up of physiological sensors, low-power integrated circuits, and wireless communication that can be employed for monitoring the health of an individual. The WBANs are primarily employed in the healthcare domain for continuous monitoring and logging vital parameters of patients that are suffering from chronic diseases like diabetes, heart attacks and asthma.  A typical body area network kit will consist of sensors, a Processor, a transceiver and a battery. WBANs can also be employed in other areas like sports, military and security.
  • Protocols are the set of rules defined for a particular system. In a communication system the protocols are used in a system through various layers. In wireless communication we use different protocols for the communication between the various systems present in the network. Energy efficiency enhancement protocols are used to improve the performance of the system. By improving the performance parameter of the system we can increase the efficiency of the system. The efficient system will give us better output.
  • Hand off means the process in which ongoing calls or data is transfer from one channel connected to the core network to another. The reason behind handoff is if one base station is full the connection can be transferred to another nearby base station, when one user is moving from one base station to other base station. Handoff depends on the Word error detection (WEI), Received signal strength indication (RSSI) and Quality indicator (QI). The decision of handoff may depend on various parameters including the available bandwidth, delay, jitter, access cost; transmit power, current battery status of the mobile device, and the user’s preferences. Handoff can result in drop age of calls, the energy of the system is reduced and it will become less efficient, so the problem of handoff is removed, for which many protocol have been designed. The system that is designed should control the handoff, so that there is no call drop age , resulting in an efficient system.
  • In wireless communication systems, the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique is a widely popular and attractive scheme for high-data-rate transmission because it can cope with frequency selective fading channel .OFDM is acronym for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing; OFDM is the modulation method in which multicarrier signal is transmitted. It utilizes many carriers together to provide many advantages over simpler modulation formats it is advantageous as it able to cope up with severe channel condition like narrow band interference, frequency selective fading due to multipath etc. it can provide large data rates with sufficient robustness to radio channel impairments OFDM modulation technique is used in 4G wireless systems. OFDM is having vast research area in wireless communication.
  • In wireless communication Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) is a technique in which data is encoded on multiple carrier frequencies. It is wideband communication that is used in application like TV and audio broadcasting. Wireless networks, power line networks, and 4G mobile communications. OFDM is efficient Technique as it has high data transmission rate, low implementation complexity but the major problem in this technique is rise PAPR .PAPR is peak to average power ratio. This PAPR rise in OFDM signal because summation of sine waves. The rise in PAPR results in reduction of efficiency of RF amplifiers which result in poor performance of the system and increase in the complexity in the analog to digital and digital to analog convertors. So PAPR is to be reduced for reduction of this many methods have been proposed like Partial Transmit Sequence, Amplitude clipping, Filtering, SLM etc.
  • As we know that the network is made up of nodes, for transmitting of data from one node to other there is need of path or medium through which the communication is possible, for this routing is used.Routing means path for travelling of data packets from source to destination. Routing is done with the help of routers. To specify how router communicates, how they select the route from one node to other is called as routing protocol .it mainly tells about the choice of route by the router. Routing protocol shares the information among the nodes in the network. Routing is usually done to select the best and reliable path for transferring of data. Routing is performed for many kinds of networks, including the telephone network, internet transportation networks etc
  • A wireless communication is the communication in which data transmission take place without wires or cables. A network is form by the sensors nodes that are located at different places. Sensors node are important part of communication as communication is done between the nodes. For planning a communication system, first step is localization or deployment of sensors nodes, a localized approach is to gather the information about the network into one place, and localization is done of evaluation of nodes’ density and coverage, energy map generation, geographic routing. So localization is one of the major problems for setting a network. For simplification, generally a symmetric communication link is considered.
  • In wireless communication scheduling play an important role as large no. of data packets are sent, form source to destination. To send large no. of data packet a particular order is to maintained, so that the packet having less data is sent first and the large data packet is send after the first one is transmitted and has reached the receiver end. For this the purpose scheduling is done. Wireless scheduling means select a user to which the base station transmit the information or from which it receive information. Many wireless scheduling algorithms are designed that results in high performance of the system. Wireless scheduling can be considered as one of the vital research area in wireless communication.
